Reauthorization of the Generic Drug User Fee Amendments; Public Meeting; Request for Comments

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA, the Agency, or we) is hosting a public meeting to discuss proposed recommendations for the reauthorization of the Generic Drug User Fee Amendments (GDUFA) for fiscal years (FYs) 2028 to 2032. GDUFA amended the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) to authorize FDA to assess and collect fees to support human generic drug activities. The current legislative authority for GDUFA expires at the end of September 2027. At that time, new legislation will be required for FDA to continue to assess and collect generic drug user fees for future fiscal years. 3 days into my first year, cant seem to catch up and feel in the dark. Just me venting.

I’m a 1st year teacher teaching 5th grade math. I student taught 8th grade history. I was desperate for a job. I applied all summer and had very little luck, so when this school hired me, I took it. It’s a 45-minute drive each way. l. It’s an underfunded underperforming rural Title I school. We are only three days into the school year, and I already feel like I’m drowning. The weird part is that I actually really enjoyed the first two days. I like my students. I actually really like 5th grade. I’ve already had two little girls give me student artwork. Lots of them give me hugs when they leave however they tell me I’m their favorite teacher because I’m “chill.” That makes me question myself too. I don’t want to be the teacher students like because I’m too lenient or not strict enough. I don’t want to be the teacher who gets walked all over. I don’t necessarily feel like they’re walking all over me, but when fifth graders are already calling me their favorite teacher after three days, I

Is it weird that I move my Job, but I absolutely fear being a parent?

I'm a mid 30's male K-5 teacher. I've been a teacher for the last 8 years, and my job is my favorite aspect of my life. I just keep running into the same instance over and over again. Both my wife and I are teachers, I teach K-5 Music and she teaches HS Biology, I only mention this because we both have run into the same conversation with co-workers. Essentially it dials down to, if you're both teachers why don't you want children of your own? There are a lot of reasons, the largest reason being that WE JUST DONT F****** WANT TOO!!!!! When I say that we just don't want to have kids I'm often met with a reaction that suggests that we're both horrible people who hate all of humanity. I gave my professional life to be the best person I can for other peoples kids. Is that not enough? Most of my colleagues assume that I want to have kids of my own, and to be honest my wife gets this question from her colleagues A LOT MORE than I do. I really think it's due to gender bias within the education

Have you ever refused to lead your class on an overseas school trip?

I’m a homeroom teacher and they want me to lead my middle school class on a trip to South Korea. Is it common for homeroom teachers to be the ones responsible for taking them on overseas trips or can another teacher do it? Nothing in my contract mentions that I need to do this. I have a health condition where I need to cook for myself and cannot eat food from restaurants. I would need a few hours everyday to shop and cook for myself. I would be accompanied by another teacher and a parent but I still feel it would be bad for my health to go. I’m worried that refusing would reflect badly on me. What should I do? What kind of reason should I give? submitted by /u/Wonderful_Gap1014 [link] [comments]

Just why?

I teach high school art and today was our first day back. I was looking at my attendance sheets for my classes and I had to do a double take. A name was printed twice on my attendance sheet. But, each one had a different student number assigned to it. I figured it was a clerical error and would bring it up with guidance at the end of the day. Nope. My 4A class rolls around and guess what. I have a set of twins, identical, and both have the same first and last name. 😳 I'm going to be calling one student by the first name and his brother by the last name. Why do parents do this? Edit: I guess I should have been more specific. I asked both boys what THEY would like to be called. We had a really good conversation where we had some good laughs and ended with a couple of fist bumps. I did not treat my students in a disrespectful manner or admonish them for something that they had no control over. submitted by /u/lilabethlee [link] [comments]

Tech laughed at me when I delegated a task

For context, I am a 20 yr old female nurse plus new at my job, so that’s not a good combo when telling people what to do. I work at an adolescent psych hospital, and we have mostly paper charting and have to rewrite precaution orders for every patient out in their chart. Around 11pm I was doing these rewrites which takes about an hour and a half for all 30 patients, when I asked two techs in front of me who were doing nothing and playing on their phones (not blaming them for that I’m usually on my phone when there’s nothing to do too) if they could do some charting on the computer for midnight for me since I was busy. Actual convo: Me - “hey, could either of you do the night audit since I’m doing rewrites?” A pause. One tech laughs for a few seconds and says to other tech “did she just ask me to do that?” Me - “ 😕 I, uh… yeah” This was my first time delegating a task to someone, and I just felt totally embarrassed and didn’t know what to do after being so blatantly disrespected. Unexpected death

I was driving into work a few days ago, listening and singing along to pretty upbeat music when I saw you. The street hadn’t been blocked off yet, but the police were out. I was slow and careful. Did a courtesy wave to the officers walking around and I saw you. You hadn’t been covered yet. It was just a second. I looked away as soon as I realized what I was seeing. I’ve dealt with death and bodies enough, but you hit different. I’ve thought about you everyday. I am so sorry about what happened to you. I don’t know your name, I don’t know you. But I am so sorry. A friend of mine almost took their life the same way you did, a few years ago. I heard their pain after the fact and I felt like the worst friend in the world for not seeing it before. I felt shattered, but I know that didn’t even compare. I’m so sorry. My friend found their peace. I hope you find yours, wherever you are. Staff Bonding at Laser Tag

We just had a staff bonding event (during scheduled PD time) and they told us right before that it was Laser Tag. Everyone else was fine with it, but I didn’t participate because I have some triggers related to guns. I checked with leadership before we left and it was a mandatory event. I just sat in the lobby with my pregnant coworker. IMO it was REALLY inappropriate to have a school event related to guns and shooting each other, especially telling us last minute. I have a different background from most of my colleagues so I’m unsure if I should bring it up, or how. It’s the beginning of the year and I don’t want to start unnecessary stuff before the kids get here. Please let me know if I’m making a mountain out of a molehill. HS Classroom Pencil Systems

First day is in three weeks (can you believe it?!). I would love a classroom pencil system that WORKS. I have spent the last two years buying my pencils for my classroom, as many teachers do. The problem is, I can’t afford that! I have tried the trade system, where students give me something small of theirs (AirPod, keys etc.) in exchange for a pencil, and they get their item back upon return. That had come with some annoying issues that I rather avoid this year, so I’m looking for something different. I teach English, which means we do write a lot (making everything digital isn’t an option)! Does anyone have a SIMPLE pencil system that is low prep on the teacher’s end and easy for students to follow for their high school classrooms? Any tips and tricks would also be greatly appreciated. Advice to New Grads from Recent Grad- Stay Humble

I am a new nurse of 3 years. In that time I’ve worked Pysch and ED and recently started at large Level 1 hospital. During orientation, there were many new grads and I was blown away at the entitlement and flippancy of these new nurses. One nurse behind me that was apparently starting in the ICU (she mentioned it like four times) complained endlessly about the things every orientation has- POC BGM, restraints, wound care, etc. During the practice session for applying violent restraints she says “Why are they even making us do this? Security will put these on. This is so stupid.” It was eight hours of hearing her bitch and sigh about everything when she has not EVEN BEEN ON THE FLOOR YET!!! Girl, just wait… Another complained to the chaplain that, LAST YEAR during her internship, a family requested holy water and she called the chaplain and no one answered. She then apparently couldn’t find any holy water in the chapel. The chaplain was more gracious than I would have been and apologized

Denied PTO

Lurker here 👋 Working m/s, over a year into my 2 year contract. Requested PTO 3 months prior to the date after a chat with the manager who said no one else had requested PTO for those days yet and traditionally those dates don't get requested much. Gave me enough assurance that I felt safe buying tickets (guiding hikes and paddles for 2 weeks for a handful of people who have already booked tickets). Just got the schedule and the PTO was denied due to others with more seniority requesting for the same dates. I'm not butthurt about the seniority; I understand why it's a thing. I'm just looking for advice on how you would proceed. Can't swap shifts because of rules about only being able to swap within the same pay period. I have plenty of PTO hours so I can call in sick for 5 shifts over 2 weeks but it seems like a crappy thing to do... and if I were to call in sick, I'm not sure if I should give management a heads up or not. I appreciate the input, comrades submitted by /u/chocolate_dipp

Best News ever!

I left my previous teaching job as a social studies teacher after the 23–24 school year. There were a lot of reasons some of them personal, some of them were not seeing eye to eye with administration. So for the last two years, I was looking for another job in social studies. After spending two years searching and not finding a job, I made the decision to get my special education license. I was hired by a local district as an intervention specialist with a very few details about my job, other than I would be co-teaching. Today I went into a PD to find out I will exclusively be working in social studies. I will be co-teaching three classes. The part that really excited me though was that I will get to teach two history classes in the resource room. This is a best case scenario if there ever was one for someone who stepped away from their regular area. I cannot explain how much I’m looking forward to this school year now. submitted by /u/Fantastic-Hat935 [link] [comments]

Why do some teachers quit right before school starts?

As the title states… why do some teachers quit right before the school year begins? PLEASE NOTE, I understand if it’s because of injury, illness, last minute move, etc. this is for people who KNEW they weren’t going to return this upcoming school year. Why would they wait all summer to then tell the school they won’t be returning? I’ve seen this happen in a few districts around me, so I’m sure it’s happened everywhere else too. Edit: also, no idea why I’m getting downvoted for asking questions😂 I’m not trying to be an asshole or anything- so I apologize if it’s coming across that way. I’m only a few years into teaching and I’m genuinely just trying to clear up some misconceptions and trying to hear insight from everyone- not just my district and surrounding districts submitted by /u/Puzzled-Bonus5470 [link] [comments]

Are doctors like this at every hospital?

I am really struggling to provide safe care to my patients because of how our doctors act. I think some of their actions are very much related to being on night shift. First off, they straight up refuse to make any adjustments to the plan of care, even if it’s indicated. Every morning I hand my patients off after begging for orders overnight. Every evening I come back to those orders having been put in during the day and a very frustrated day team that wished it had been done right off the bat. I am being met with day team doctors coming in and demanding to know why things weren’t done overnight. Asking me why I never told anyone about an assessment finding. I tell them I did and what I advocated for. Second off, they cannot be bothered to come to bedside to check on their patients. Febrile, tachy, complaining of new pain and increased abdominal distension after bowel surgery? Oh well. This is not just a me problem. My coworkers all are struggling with this too. Third off, they are fla

No one truly understands how exhausting it is to be “on” all the time.

I chose rant because I didn’t know what else this would fall under. I’m also coming at this from the offender’s angle. I recently joined an athletic club and this week I took my family to the pool. While there I saw one of the kindergarten teachers from the school I teach at. I went over to be polite and said hi. This is where my manners won over my brain because I absolutely didn’t want to be “on”. She’s a great lady and we’ve helped each other out a few times in the last year and I honestly think we’re good colleagues. But, ya’ll, the look of dread when she saw me coming over to say hi was real. I kept it short, said hi, asked how her summer was going and then went to be with my family. We both didn’t want to hit that “on” switch that is so there no matter how nice the person, even if it was a colleague. I don’t think people in the community truly understand what it’s like to have to be professional ALL THE TIME. People are getting dressed in a locker room while I’m huddled in a stal

Coworker adding students she coaches on Playstation to game... red flag?

Newish teacher here (year 2). I teach 6th grade STEM at an elementary school. I have no social media of any kind and often hear people discuss students adding them as friends or following them. I always thought it was common sense NOT to do this as it's incredibly inappropriate. A coworker of mine, a young woman probably mid 20s, also coaches the middle school girls basketball team. She's a nice girl, but she told me the other day she adds her players that she coaches on playstation to play video games together online and that her and the players will often game together and chat to "build camaraderie". She made it seem like no big deal. I would personally never do this. It seems wrong and I don't understand why a teacher would want to play with a bunch of students online. What would they even have in common? Is it just me or does it seem wrong? I don't want to get involved but I don't know, I feel like a lot could go wrong here. What are you looking forward to about going back to school?

I’ve been reading so much on here about how miserable everyone is. And I get that, this job is hard AF, and often made harder by people in charge. I know talking about it with others who understand can genuinely be so helpful, so I’m not judging anyone for that at all. However, I’m about to start back up after 9 months of being home with my baby (minus a 5 week stint at the end of the year) and am looking for some reasons to feel like maybe everything is going to be ok. Not going for toxic positivity here-I don’t need to know your “why,” unless you genuinely feel like sharing it. I just need some reminders of the good or bearable parts of teaching. For example, I think I’m really looking forward to being on a schedule again and having structure to my days. submitted by /u/Majestic-Space1996 [link] [comments]

Unexpectedly getting out of nursing

Sharing this here because my friends and family that aren’t in healthcare don’t truly understand how huge this is. I have been a nurse for almost a decade. Even with all the things we love to complain about (staffing, pay, hospital politics, etc), I’ve truly loved every minute of it. The part I’ve loved most has been precepting nursing students and new hires. There’s a lot of satisfaction that comes with teaching someone to be successful and achieve their own personal goals. So a few months ago, I began applying for clinical educator positions because that’s where I could see myself long term. I applied to nearly every job I could find that contained the words “clinical education”, “nurse educator”, “nurse professional development”, etc. but was having zero luck on getting an interview for any position in a hospital setting (I applied to dozens). Then one day I stumbled across a clinical educator position for a biotech company. It involved partnering with the sales team to provide clin

Problem with Wearing Bluey Apparel?

Hello! Male, Elementary Teacher here. I have a bunch of button-up, Hawaiian-esque shirt that I like to wear at school. I have multiple themes of shirts that are from Disney, Marvel, Zelda, Mario, Star Wars, and Bluey. I met someone recently that told me, “You need to lay off the Bluey shirts because they give major pedo vibes.” I told them I’m an elementary teacher and that I get the most compliments from other teachers, parents, and students when I wear my Bluey shirts. They responded with, “Well those students are actually probably talking about you and how weird you are and that you give pedo or gay vibes.” I told them, “Okay, they can talk to each other about that then.” They then proceeded to say, “You probably don’t get it because you don’t have kids of your own. I wouldn’t trust you if I sent my kids off with you.” And I just finished it by saying “Okay.” If you saw a somewhat larger, male elementary teacher (~30 y/o) wearing a shirt with Bluey on it, would you be untrusting and

Just moved somewhere with break nurses, which is awesome except for this one lady. Everytime I ask her to do anything at all she has a thousand questions and goes into my charting and gives unwanted feedback. I asked her to empty a foley for me. Help settle a friendly debate. Healthcare workers as patients.

My wife and I are having a debate/discussion. I’m a nurse with ICU and flight experience. My wife is a physical therapist. We have recently had family members hospitalized (atleast 1 at a hospital we have worked at before; so we know people there) and I insist on NOT letting the healthcare workers know we are in health care. My wife disagrees. My wife’s position is that it doesn’t matter if they know. They’ll do their job. And with the family member hospitalized at the hospital we used to work at, it doesn’t matter cuz we know several workers. They’re friends of ours. So there’s no point in concealing anything. (Obviously we are following hipaa in these instances before anyone comments) My position is we shouldn’t tell them unless they ask. I feel like it’s a distraction. I think some nurses (and other healthcare workers) may think I’m judging their practice rather than just engaging in their workflow. I have a few anecdotes/incidents/reasons for why I have this position. First is when

Will i pass my drug test for nursing ?

Hey, I’m just posting to get some clarity/reassurance about my situation because I think I might be overthinking it. I smoked on June 22 and completely forgot that I needed to get a drug test done for my nursing program. I smoked probably less than 10 small hits of a joint and didn’t even really get high. I also don’t smoke often at all, MAYBE once every other month. The test I have to take is a urine test through Labcorp. I weigh around 130 lbs, I’m 5’8”, and I’m pretty lean, probably around 10–12% body fat. Since smoking, I’ve taken multiple at-home urine tests. I took three 50 ng/mL tests at different points ranging from about 2 days after smoking to 3 weeks afterward, and they were all negative. Then, about a month after smoking, I took a few more sensitive tests at 15 ng/mL and 20 ng/mL (two of each on different days). I even tested using my first pee in the morning because I heard that’s when urine is the most concentrated. Every single one came back negative. I feel like I’m pro

$12/hr pay cut to leave ICU for PACU/pre-op/admissions. Is this normal?

I’m currently an ICU nurse and interviewing for a position at a surgery center. The position is PACU, pre-op, and admissions, and you float between all three I knew I would probably take a pay cut leaving the hospital/ICU and I was prepared for that. But they offered me $12/hr less than what I currently make. When I asked if there was any flexibility with the pay, he told me, “I don’t care what you make at the hospital, this isn’t the hospital . Patients here are stable “Literally just like that . The surgery center is also a longer commute for me, so I would be making significantly less money while also spending more time and money commuting. For those who have left ICU/hospital nursing for PACU, pre-op, or admissions at a surgery center, is a $12/hr pay cut normal? Did you feel like the Monday through Friday schedule was worth taking that much of a pay cut? Would you take the position or keep looking? There’s a lot of trauma I have to unpack there, especially with how things were left off between us. I found out while I was at work on Wednesday, and the first day for students was Thursday. I missed Thursday and Friday, and I had planned on returning tomorrow, but I’m not ready and got a sub. It would be so much easier to return to work if I already knew my students, had routines established, and felt comfortable and was back into the flow of things. I honestly don’t know how or when I can return to work and meet my students for the first time without breaking down in front of them. And the thought of having to be performative and “on” is too much for me right now as I grieve. The worst part is when you literally can’t leave the room when you get upset, because you can’t leave the kids alone without an adult in the room. I get 2 days for bereavement, I can use 3 sick

Tomorrow's the Day!

I know tens of thousands of teachers are going in tomorrow for the first day with students this school year. To those of you that are in that group--like myself--I wanted to wish you good luck. Whether new to the game or a seasoned veteran, let's hope we hit the ground running and have a promising start. submitted by /u/CapKashikoi [link] [comments]

Why am I always so nauseous even though I love my job? Please help!

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or some insight to why I always feel so nauseous in the mornings even though I love my job. For some context, I'm a first year middle school special education teacher who joined mid year within an inclusive model where I am a co-teacher with a diverse caseload of around 13 students. I genuinely have nothing to complain about regarding the job. My coworkers have been supportive, student relationships were often very positive, families were collaborative, etc. I'm even maxed out on the salary scale in terms of education because I worked on earning 2 MA's while working as a para educator in the last 2 years. Everything on paper is as perfect as it gets, and it's been a dream job for me since college. It's something I hold a lot of passion for due to how schools built me up when I was a neglected child surviving poverty in the past. That's why I'm struggling with understanding why I'm feeling extremely nauseous every mo

Tomorrow is the first day of school, and I just don't care

This will be my 5th year teaching. Usually I would really prepare, get a hair cut, dress nice, but this year I simply don't GAF. All of the " Rah Rah we are here for the kids! Lets have a great school year! " BS that they push during PD just didn't land with me this year. I am fairly certain this is my last year teaching, even if I don''t have another job lined up I can't do this anymore. I'll enjoy seeing some of the kids again, but really it is just another day. submitted by /u/_Fuckit_ [link] [comments]

Stuck RN

I graduated nursing school a year ago. Always wanted to do psych nurse. I did med surg for a year then went into psych. It did not turn out like what I expected it to be. A lot of paper work and interruption to daily work flow. I don’t mind paper work but paper work while dealing with l behavior is a lot. Maybe im just working in the wrong unit but anywho. I am lost. I’ve always wanted to do psych but it’s not what I love. I don’t mind medical type nursing maybe home health, clinic work, pediatric care/med surg (not er or icu) It’s only been a month into my new role and immediately going to work I feel immense doom and anxiety. I guess im asking for advice maybe something uplifting. Maybe suggestions for other jobs? I worked so hard for something and now just feel lost. submitted by /u/Obvious-Prune-5586 [link] [comments]

i fear i picked the wrong career choice (OR)

so… i’m a new grad nurse . I got this amazing offer that I accepted for a Periop 101 program in the OR. Trauma hospital. I’ve been seeing everywhere online of all nurses saying how hard it is , how mean the surgeons are, how mentally draining taking call is and always being on go… and then the biggest thing, not feeling actually comfortable until 2 years in the OR. I have high anxiety , i’m sensitive, and shy. I’m so nervous about starting and just really scared i’m going to hate it . But to be honest , idk if i would like med surg lol. I know this is an amazing opportunity so I don’t really want to hear comments about that. I just don’t know if this is really going to be as bad as people online say it is or what? Am i going to feel dumb everyday? Am i going to be bullied by other nurses and surgeons? I was told by the nurse that hired me that there is a lot of hazing until you get good at what you do . I’m nervous and i don’t want to have anxiety every single day and then live my week

Moved from 5th to 3rd and I’m freaking out.

Hello, I’m in my 6th year of teaching and got moved from 5th grade ELA down to 3rd ELA. This was not my choice as the previous 3rd grade ELA teacher had a problem with a co-worker and the whole 3rd grade teaching team was split. The 3rd grade teacher was given my 5th grade class and I was told it was moving down to 3rd for me or I was out of a job. My principal made this decision as he said “I think you would be a solid team member in the new 3rd grade team I am building this year.” That principal is not long at my school as the week after he made this change he accepted a position at another school. Long story short, I moved to keep a job as my state was heavily cutting teachers in every school district and I was afraid I would not have a job without it. I had the highest test scores last year in 5th for my whole district but got booted because a veteran teacher couldn’t play nice. As I type this, tomorrow is the second day of school and I’m freaking out that I don’t know how to teach

First Success

About to dive into my first year of teaching as an (old) retired engineer. It wasn't in any advice I saw, but I my instinct when I passed the custodians mopping a floor, and stopped to introduce myself and strike up casual conversation. Became buddies. Instantly paid off...couple days later one knocked on my door and held up the supply request form I'd dropped in the custodians' mailbox, wadded it up and threw it in the trash. "Grab a box" he said. Let me in to supply room, and just started piling tons of stuff in. Said just to see him any time anything is needed "off the books." Next up is the officer manager After having spent decades in bureaucracies, I know how this works. Make friends from the "bottom" up. submitted by /u/Beneficial_Couple413 [link] [comments]

Considering Quitting ICU to go Back to Med Surg

I just finished my orientation on a mixed PCU/ICU unit and I'm not sure I'm loving it there enough to stay. I left a med surg unit I had been on for about 8 months for this new job. The med surg unit I was on was certainly busy and had its issues with staffing occasionally (as many med surg units do). However, my coworkers there were wonderful, I worked day shift, and although I was busy I felt competent and confident in my work. I even started precepting new grads which scratched this teaching itch I've had for a while too. My manager was very complimentary of me, saying I had what it would take to be a charge nurse and even replace her someday. On this new unit, I work nights (for the first time) which has flipped my life upside down, it makes me feel like a ghost of a person and I wish so bad I could work day shift. I've oriented to day shift at my new job and I don't know if I'd even want to do that based on how busy the workload is for the ICU patients. Plus most shifts I'd get a
