[5/5] Why in my opinion I feel like Duolingo is the best

I really do feel like Duolingo is really good for all languages pacifically for me Español Spanish. It’s been teaching me a lot about my language my culture. Just in general, my native language and overall just a really good app to help you learn your I guess I would say in my opinion your native language who you are if you want to learn it is really helpful for that

[3/5] Ok, but not great

I didn’t succeed learning Chinese Mandarin with Duo Lingo. Now attempting to study Spanish. I’m an adult, so all the extra rewards BS is actually annoying and a waste of time for me. Also, from time to time I get into a flash-cards competition (without me understanding how I get there), and if I don’t go fast enough at the most advanced levels the app asks for some ransom money to not erase my progress. That is quite upsetting as I have already paid over $100 for a year. That should keep the wolves away, don’t you think? There’s also too much typing required on the tiny phone keyboard. Why not let me say it more often?

[2/5] Inconsistencies

Since Duo changed to AI-generated, I have hated it. There is no connection to actual people, and the learning development is inconsistent. I paid for SuperDuo for many years and hate to abandon my 2286-day streak but today’s single lesson makes me want to comment. In French, is “situation” masculine or feminine??? In one incorrect answer I was explained that it is masculine (use “ce”), in another I was told it was feminine (use “La”). In the same lesson. This inconsistency is one of many things I have not liked about the new learning design. I’m glad I quit paying for it a month ago. I only keep using it daily because it tracks my streak, but it is no longer very effective for actually learning a language. Update: I still use DuoLingo and am near a 2500-day streak. I can’t stand the AI-generated content and disconnect from what is being taught in one part and what is evaluated in another. And today I asked to explain my correct answer and it glitched, the only thing I could do was to a

[5/5] Love the program!

I tried a different app first, but I like this way of learning better. I enjoy the flashcards an I think the AI interaction is much more life like and helpful! I definitely recommend trying Duolingo first! I would like to suggest to the makers, some actual conjugation lessons would be nice. Also, to maybe skip areas of non interest and come back to them later. Talking about skiing is less important than the months, days or numbers.

[2/5] Exercise in frustration

Every once in a while an app just makes you wish you could slap the developers on the face and ask what they were thinking. Having no way to add energy aside from gems or purchasing the subscription was the first thing to do that with this app. Then they had an update where instead of getting five energy after a streak, it randomized the amount of energy you get. How is that helpful to anyone?! It adds nothing but frustration, especially given the first problem I had. Made me want to slap someone all over again. Then there’s the extremely weak teaching this app does. If you’re just trying to learn some phrases or if you’re in a class while using it, then it’s fine; but if you actually want to learn the language, this app fails. Even worse it will throw you into exercises with words you’ve never heard before with no help. Don’t get caught up in the hype

[1/5] Change WORD practice back to the match madness style.

There’s already a speak option, and I don’t want to stop and spell, I want to practice being able to pick the corresponding word out of others on display, like it was before, so I can practice cementing the word in my mind. It was an unnecessary change, and the push for speaking the words seems like an attempt to get users to train ai without realizing

[2/5] Fix the editing feature

It really amazes me how well known companies with access to software developers always seem to miss major glitches in their apps. You should probably make sure the buttons and editing features are up to par before releasing updates!!! Why is it that when I edit my set, it stops at card 200 when I have well over 700+ cards? I literally cannot access or edit any of the cards past 200. This is a major issue that needs to be fixed!

[1/5] Signing in is a pain

Signing in through the mobile app is unreliable and not working. It requires you to sign in via the webpage, but then does not communicate to the app that you logged in or the webpage says there was no page found. When this app works, it’s great. Until this login issue is fixed it’s best to find something else.

[4/5] Phenomenal but tiresome

While Khan is absolutely phenomenal from the top down, I’d like a little more visibility with theorems, formulas, and rules. If I’m completing a lesson, instead of trying to remember the logic of how to solve that which was taught, it would be much more user friendly to start the lessons with a formula or a rule, than apply whatever obscure logic, at least you’d then have the formulas to fall back on. Maybe have a written portion to read along with the video examples. Also, the whole weird name thing is annoying. Don’t make me use brainpower at trying to understand how to properly pronounce some obscure name. Just use easy, short, and normal names i.e. Bob or Sue, not Jaquonalaysia. I understand you’re attempting inclusion, but it’s annoying and preachy. Keep the DEI out of math.

[4/5] Greed

They added a new update where there are now more rounds every time you study. Previously, the annual subscription covered all the rounds, and there weren’t even that many. But now they’ve added a feature that generates significantly more rounds, essentially forcing you to purchase the unlimited rounds feature for an extra $10.

[2/5] Gold-in, Garbage-Out

Quizlet has taken something incredibly simple, creating a flashcard, and made it unnecessarily difficult. The design seems built around the assumption that Quizlet knows better than the user what they want to study and how they want to study it. Manual creation and importing go from bad to worse, making it surprisingly difficult to get your own information into the system correctly. The result is a very high-tech, very polished gold-in/garbage-out system. The basic tools should be simpler, not harder.

[1/5] New update sucks

The new update has made creating new flashcards for a set or editing the description much more difficult and time-consuming, and it no longer saves your progress if you pause in the middle of entering flashcards—which I discovered after stepping away for a few hours and coming back to discover 2 hours worth of flashcard entries hadn’t saved. :/
